Short Story Snail Utopia dream.
By Andrea Boromeo 2009

After reading about Cuban Land Snails, I wondered why they were different from other snails and asked myself 'how did they acquire their select rings of shell colour'?.

I dreamt I was a Cuban land snail. My surroundings were misty, so I focused on myself and my new form.

I had no sense of time, but was aware of my unconscious sensation.
I did not feel wet and slimey but warm and cosy. I had no arms or legs, or a mouth, and I was unable to make a sound, this did not matter, as I had no one to communicate with.

Feeling hungry, I was curious about what I could eat. Gradually the mist lifted and I found myself surrounded by a mass of utopian organza, an extraordinary species of plant. Slowly I slid towards it.

Eventually the colours became more distinguishable with their unique characteristics.

At the foot of these organic forms I was overcome with a strong urge to devour what looked like the most appetizing meal, even though their sheer size seemed to engulf me, I continued to consume until I was tired, then I curled up into my shell and went to sleep.

When I woke I was still dreaming, so I quickly glanced around to see if I had a colour ring on my shell, and I did, I had created my first colour ring, and with that I set off to match more colours from the organic forms to make another ring.

This is the type of 'utopia' that colours my visionary world and my narrative is my own exploration of life. All of my paintings and drawings and writings are part of this utopia. I am only attempting describe it.

His Mothers Love
Written January 2018 by Andrea Boromeo, for my son.

His mothers love is primal
His mothers love is endless and lasts
Beyond one lifetime into many more
Through generations
His mothers love endures and transends any hardship in life
His mothers love is shaped like a rock tossed amongst the torrents of time
His mothers love lives within her sons heart
And she carries her sons heart with all the love her mother gave her.

Seed of Serendipity BY ANDREA BOROMEO 2008 Traversing Uncertainties solo show George Paton Gallery, Melbourne 2010

Escape no where.

Escape is not here,

It is not up there, down there, here

It is everywhere, inside of you.

Awake no where

Awake is not here,

It is not up there, down there, here

It is everywhere, inside of you.

Escape with me from the fires of trepidation,

Awake aware, holding the seed of serendipity.

Escape up there, into his strong arms of unity,

Awake down there, where her warm heart succumbs.

Time is here, for this seed to grow

You must banish the myth to which trickery sows.

Will you come back from the pain that seduces your heart?

Will you return to me, your hope, to where the rhythm of harmony plays?

Where time itself whispers tales of love to the shadow of the moon?

Let me sing away your tremendous pain,

Soul of an angel,

Let me cradle you in my smile until the night traumas wane,

Leaving them as mere memory of their former names.

When you allow me this,

My gentle spirit,

Then your pain will ease

And you will be freed.

Too easy to forget my friend

Just be aware and remember too,

That I have seen inside of you

And on that day,

Before you last flew away,

I acknowledged this and went on again,

With the impregnation of serendipity in your heart

Impregnating you was just a start.
